New York Joe Exchange Shimokitazawa

New York Joe Exchange Shimokitazawa

c. 1970 – 2026Clothing

“A buy-sell-trade shop in an old sento, everything under ¥10,000; go on the first Sunday for half price.”

The old public bath is still there: red and blue tiles, uneven floors, a drain channel you will trip on, scaffolding for racks. It is an exchange, Buffalo Exchange style, so stock is whatever Tokyo brought in that week: military jackets, 90s band tees, leather, mode pieces, the odd Hermès scarf.

Everything is priced under ¥10,000, which is the point. Nothing is pre-sorted for you, so check seams and wash before wearing. Bring your own clothes: trade credit pays better than cash. The first Sunday of the month is half price and packed.

Silk carrés surface among the accessories at exchange prices; check the hand-rolled hems and the colour, since fading is what lowers the price.
