Roku 6 Nakameguro

Roku 6 Nakameguro

c. 1970 – 2010Clothing

“Second floor behind a door marked only "6": where designers come to buy reference pieces.”

A second-floor room in Aobadai with a slim street door that just says 6. Moose, who worked in a New York vintage store before opening here, buys the odd and the old: shooting jackets, early military life vests, fisherman's gloves, early Issey Miyake, Margiela. Luxury-house design teams shop it for sample references, which tells you the level.

It is a dig, not a display, and it mixes used designer with quirky one-offs, leather goods and small jewellery. Ask Moose for jeans: he sizes you in a minute and speaks good English. Open daily 1 to 9 pm, no online store.
