Whistler Koenji
“1940s to 60s American menswear plus a wall of Alden, Allen Edmonds and English Goodyear-welted shoes.”
Koenji's grown-up menswear stop, run for more than twenty years with its sister shop Chart. Whistler is 1940s to 60s American: work jackets, army uniforms, dress shirts, all picked by the owner on buying trips in the US, with a little British stock.
The shoes are why people cross town. Alden, Allen Edmonds, Crockett & Jones, Edward Green, John Lobb, Tricker's, Paraboot, Goodyear-welted and resoleable, in Western and Asian sizes. Old Coach bags too. It is not cheap, and some pairs are worn, so check the welt and the heel counter and know the market price. No photos inside. Open 12 to 9.

American-made loafers in a wide size run; a cheaper way into Goodyear welting than Alden.

Old Coach, the American-made glove-tanned leather bags with solid brass hardware, the ones worth more than new.
- 1990s

Northampton welted shoes in excellent condition per reviewers; check the sole stamp to see if they have been resoled.

A reviewer took home 1990s Gucci leather boots; Italian-made, so check the leather sole and stitching.
